Sign Photos: Figure 1

This US Park Service sign is located at the entrance to the Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park on Highway 11 on the eastern side of the island of Hawai‘i. As explained in the article (“Signs of Identity, Signs of Discord”), signs in the old orthography have not been entirely replaced with signs in the new. Most of the signs within the park appear to follow the new orthography, as do new park brochures.

The URL for the Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park site is http://www.nps.gov/havo/home.htm
